Someone Dies in The Avengers HUGE SPOILER

Spoiler below.

Spoiler below.

Spoiler below.

If you haven’t got it by now, I’m going to put a picture in below and if you’re still here after it, I assume you want to know.

That was your last chance, so here goes.

Last week The Avengers premiered and a whole host of people got to see it. No reviews have hit the web yet due to it being embargoed and mostly, people have stuck to it.

However, certain details have leaked out and one of those it pretty big. Somebody dies. This seems inevitable in a Joss Whedon film but with The Avengers, just what character could he kill off?

Well the character who dies isn’t strictly an Avenger but someone who has appeared in every single film and had two short movies that have helped to bridge the gap between certain films.

Have you guessed it yet? Yes, it’s Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). More than that, the way he dies has also leaked out. It seems that Loki will get the better of him, killing him by stabbing him.

Even though Agent Coulson hasn’t seen that much screen time, he has played a major part in the films by bridging gaps and being a constant throughout. This makes it very strange that Whedon would kill him off but it fits with recent comments made about the film.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said: “We wanted the audience to understand the stakes and not just assume because it’s a franchise, no one will ever get hurt. So I was watching J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie—and I’m a big Star Trek nerd so this may have hit me more than other people—but when they killed Spock’s mother, I was like, ‘We have to do that!'”

We may not have seen the film ourselves but everything fits together quite nicely around Agent Coulson. How they managed to keep it quiet for so long is indeed a feat, something that they should probably be credited for.

Is anyone sad to see Agent Coulson leave the franchise? I thought he was quite a clever character and that he fit nicely, shame really.
