This latest Finch-led story arc of Wonder Woman has provided us with so many amazing pieces of cover art, and here is yet another to add to the collection. Finch, Glapion and Sonia Oback have done a fantastic job with this cover; the attention to detail is astounding, and like the previous covers, it had managed to render me speechless for a few minutes at least. I have such a huge appreciation for comic book covers, and its covers like this one, and the others Finch has worked on previously, that let me know why exactly that is. They are, by far, the best pieces of artwork in the entire comic, and this is definitely no exception.
It’s not just one person who has made the artwork within this comic truly sensational, but three: Finch, Glapion and Steigerwald. They have done a fantastic job of turning a blank canvas into a dark, depressive, entertaining, beautiful and incredibly well detailed story. Without these pieces of art, and even with a really good storyline, this issue wouldn’t be as good as it is. The attention to detail is some of the best I’ve ever seen, and that helps to make this comic even better. I am constantly amazed when I open a comic and see fantastic artwork, even though I have come to expect it, and this issue certainly doesn’t disappoint. I honestly have nothing bad to say concerning this comic. Oh, and I absolutely love Donna’s costume. 😀
Meredith Finch hasn’t been writing comics for a long time, as I’ve noted previously, but you wouldn’t be able to tell. This story arc is a fantastic way to get her name out there as a serious comic book writer. It’s jam packed with action, adventure and surprise: everything you’d want in a comic. And while this seems like a pretty generic recipe for a decent comic, this is just so much more than that. It’s not even over yet, and already I’m thanking the gods for giving us the Finch duo. It feels very much like the prelude to main events, which is exactly what it is, but it’s not lacking anything the previous issues had, in fact it’s just as good as they were, it’s just setting up the finale to be epic, and with the battle between two Amazonian powerhouses in the not too distant future, it’s going to be just that.
Overall, this is a spectacular issue, with a gripping storyline, and amazing artwork, and sets the tone perfectly for the next explosive issue. I can’t wait to see it. So thanks to the Finches for making not only this issue, but the whole arc, perfect.
