SyFy Drinking Game Show: While there are plenty of nerd friendly shows on the air today, like Mythbusters, King of the Nerds, Big Bang Theory and the wide variety of comic related shows, SyFy has a new show in the works that promises to be both entertaining and unique.
According to a recent report from Deadline, SyFy has signed on to put on a weekly drinking game show titled Geeks Who Drink with Zachary Levi (Chuck, Heroes Reborn) as the show’s host. Deadline elaborated that this trivia meets drinking game mashup will feature two teams of three with each team having a celebrity leader. This show promises to have the fun of a pub trivia night without having to leave your living room.
DC Super Hero Girls will follow female superheroes and supervillains of the DC Comics, prior to discovering their full super power potential. Prepare to see teenage Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Harley Quinn Poison Ivy and Bumble Bee, just to mention a few in a new line of products designed by Mattel, Random House Children’s Books and LEGO and geared at girls aged 6-12.
DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson said in a statement that “DC Super Hero Girls’s represents the embodiment of our long-term strategy to harness the power of our diverse female characters and strong role models in a unique way, just for girls.”
Muppets Mockumentary: ABC’s revival of The Muppets is going to be a mockumentary-style series that goes deeper into the Muppets’ personal lives, revealed ABC this week. “The Muupets return to prime time with a contemporary, documentary-style show that – for the first time ever – will explore the Muppets’s personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires; a more adult show, for kids of all ages.
Bill Prady (Big Bang Theory) and Bob Kunshell (3rd Rock From The Sun) put together a presentation on the new series that was described as having a 30 Rock feel. How far ABC will go with adult Muppets we’ll have to wait and see.
Midnight Riot: Titan Comics is bringing Police Officer/Wizard Peter Grant to its comic book catalogue! Aaronovitch’s magical detective series Midnight Riot (Rivers of London) released in 2011 is coming to comics in June in a five-part series set between the fourth and fifth books in the Rivers of London Series – Broken Homes and Foxglove Summer.
Body work is a veritable who’s who of former Doctor Who creatives: Aaronovitch will write the series with former showrunner Andrew Cartmel, with art from Lee Sullivan, who has worked on a vast variety of Doctor Who comics.
Rivers of London: Body Work #1 will be available from June 15th, both in comic stores and digitally.
Star Wars terror connection: Tourist have been warned away from the area surrounding Tatooine where it has been reported that the terrorist group ISIS has been suspected of stashing weapons caches.
Senator Palpatine called for an immediate boots on the ground solution, adding that the Galactic Senate’s lack of a swift military response emboldens the group to conduct such activities. The senior senator from Naboo went on to urge his colleagues to pass a bill that would allocate additional funding to the clone program so that their production and training can be increased.
He also posited that there might be need to adopt a more limited government to deal with this threat. He stressed that this consolidation of power will only be necessary until the threat has passed after which time the Galactic Senate will resume its previous organization. This bill goes to a vote later this week.
