On Tuesday, Warner Brothers Animation and DC Entertainment released a new clip from Justice League vs Teen Titans on YouTube. Here we see the League, and Robin (Stuart Allen, returning to the role) take on perennial Flash rogue Weather Wizard, who has had his abilities amped up with a little help from the demonic entity known as Trigon (Daredevil and The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal):
What is interesting here is that this is the first instance in this DC Animation continuity not only is Superman bloodied, it’s the first time we truly see Superman’s weakness to magic. The production team has also chosen to use Weather Wizard’s pre New 52 appearance, in contrast to the designs of previously done heroes and villains for this new continuity. However, there is a small nod to his New 52 counterpart being able to control the weather without devices, except in this case due to Trigonic possession versus an experiment. Trigon is expected to be a major threat not only to the Justice League but to the newest crop of Teen Titans, as Trigon is on the hunt for his daughter, the magic user Raven (Taissa Farmiga).
In the comics, Trigon is an immortal demon who is constantly trying to enter our plane of existence to conquer and destroy it. Not only has he possessed his daughter and others before, one of the earliest adventures of the New Teen Titans was actually the Justice League and the New Teen Titans facing off over what to do about Raven. It seems however that the face off between the League and the Titans will be more due to Trigon’s machinations than any misunderstanding. The official description reads “The demonic forces of Trigon infiltrate the minds and bodies of the Justice League, turning the veteran super heroes against their youthful counterparts.”
Justice League vs Teen Titans debuts digitally on March 29th, and is out on Blu-Ray and DVD on April 12th.
