More about the upcoming Mystery Science Theater 3000 reboot:
Mystery Science Theater 3000 originally aired from 1988 to 1997. The series followed a host (Joel Robinson (Joel Hodgson) for the first half of the show and Mike Nelson (Michael T. Nelson) as they were forced to watch B-Movies so a mad scientist could determine which B-movie is the best to use in a world domination scheme. Joel Robinson created a number of robots to keep himself sane during this treatment, including the snarky robots Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo. The host and the robots spent the series snarking at the movies they were forced to watch, which didn’t do much to help the schemes of any of the mad scientists. The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Netflix reboot became possible through a highly successful 2015 Kickstarter campaign. That campaign raised nearly four times the desired 2 million dollar amount, and therefore set a new Kickstarter record. This Netflix season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will count as the eleventh season of the cult hit and it will have fourteen episodes, including a holiday special.
Season eleven of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will star Jonah Ray as Jonah Heston (whose last name may be a tribute to the late action star) and will act in the role of host in the new season. In addition, Felicia Day will star as Kinga Forrester, the daughter of original villain Dr. Forrester, and Patton Oswalt will star as Son of TV’s Frank, who is presumably the son of the previous henchman TV’s Frank. Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn will voice the robots Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo, respectively.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 will hit Netflix on April 14th, 2017.
