The Predator Gets A Cast Photo

Celebrating the beginning of production on his latest film, The Predator, director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, The Nice Guys) released a photo of himself and the cast of the movie.

The Predator Comes Home

Shane Black found success in the 1980’s and 90’s writing the scripts for Lethal Weapon and The Long Kiss Goodnight. But his brand of hard-boiled, witty anti-hero stories doesn’t really connect with modern day audiences. His first film, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, found a cult following, but not much else. Then, he proved to be a controversial addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leaving audiences divided over the way he handled The Mandarin. In 2016, he directed The Nice Guys starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling as a pair of bumbling private detectives. The movie didn’t exactly do well at the box office, so it can be hard to see why Fox would trust him with a property such as Predator.

But, Shane Black’s film is a homecoming of sorts for the writer-director-actor. He appeared in 1987’s Predator as Hawkins, the foul-mouthed radio operator, and the Predator’s first victim. So, a return to the franchise behind the camera fits perfectly. To illustrate his excitement, Black took to Twitter and posted the following.

The picture features Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, and Black himself. Not much is known about the film’s story. The studio has kept the plot tightly under wraps.  A rumor that The Predator would head to suburbia made its way to the internet a few months ago. The rumor seemed true given Black’s penchant for unlikely settings, but he dispelled the rumor. And while the above picture is fairly straight-forward, we get a good look at the major players looking ready to kick some alien butt.
