Logan director James Mangold (who also directed Girl, Interrupted and Walk the Line) has announced that a black and white version of Wolverine’s (Hugh Jackman) final film will be on the BluRay release, according to gamespot.com.

More about this version of Logan:

This decision was inspired by the positive reception received by the first production stills leaked, which made some people think that the wide release film was going to be shot in black and white. Mangold had been experimenting with taking stills in black and white due to his belief that Jackman looks better in harsh lighting, and was stunned by the positive reaction to the leaked photos. Logan director James Mangold said about the realization: ” I think it even surprised everyone to the degree that there is a kind of a running assumption that black and white is a turnoff for most people. It caused such an extreme reaction and so much appreciation for these pictures, and then people immediately wondering if the film itself was going to be in black and white, and so we are giving it a whirl, and I think the Blu-ray will come out with a pass on it. I think it will be a very handsome black and white version of the picture.”

Logan stars Hugh Jackman as the title character and Patrick Stewart as Professor X. This is the last film that both of those actors will be doing in the X-Men franchise. Logan also stars Dafne Keen as Laura, a young girl who seems to have the same abilities as Wolverine.

You can catch the full-color version of Logan at your local movie theater right now since it opened to a great box office and rave reviews last weekend.
