As promised last week, the official trailer for director Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight has arrived. There is a bunch of new footage of various new Transformers and a better explanation of the overall plot. It really wasn’t that big of a secret based on all of the teasers and other shorter trailers already released.
Cashing in on the already lucrative Transformers franchise, this fifth film in the series is supposedly Michael Bay’s last. Although he said earlier this week that he’d be open to coming back for one of the planned spin-off films. A Bumblebee solo film has a director attached and is currently in pre-production.
Just like the previous films, be prepared for a lot of explosions, faster than can be seen action sequences and a little juvenile humor thrown in. Bay’s Transformers films, while entertaining, have been hit or miss and have been widely panned by hardcore fans. With Mark Wahlberg returning, we can expect a lot of the same elements that made Transformers: Age of Extinction one of the better films in the series.
Josh Duhamel and John Turturro also make their return to the franchise. Although Duhamel was missed in the last film, Turturro’s over-acted attempts at comedy relief weren’t missed at all by most fans. Maybe this time he’ll have a more serious tone…hope, but don’t get those hopes too high.
When all seems lost, a few brave souls can save everything we’ve ever known. The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).
There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours. Transformers is coming to theatres June 2017!
