Power Rangers Star Removed From Film Premiere
At the Power Rangers premiere last week, there was a celebrity removed from the showing. That celebrity was none other than legendary Power Rangers actor Jason David Frank, Comicbook.com reports. Frank, best known for playing Tommy Oliver aka the Green Power Ranger on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and other spin-offs, was removed by theater security during the film. It seems that Frank violated theater etiquette and pulled out his phone to record part of the film.
WARNING: Power Rangers 2017 Film Spoilers Ahead.
In the film, Frank and former Pink Ranger actress Amy Jo Johnson appear as gawkers during the climatic battle. Frank apparently wanted to show this moment with fans worldwide and pulled out his phone to record the cameos. According to Frank, “Right after our cameo appeared, I got escorted out by security because I had a camera in the movie. I didn’t see the end of the movie, because security was arguing with me outside and I was trying to tell security, ‘That’s me in the movie!’ And they said, ‘I need your phone!’ I’m like, ‘You’re not getting my phone!'”
To rub salt in the wound, he later found out there was a callback to his former character during the end credits. “I didn’t get to see the end of the movie when they called Tommy. I was so upset.”
Mighty Morphing Legacy
Frank was part of the original cast of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series, playing the bad boy Tommy Oliver. A rebel without a cause, he was made the powerful Green Power Ranger by the evil Rita Repulsa, only to switch sides to the good guys. He later starred in the movie tie-in and became the White Ranger. He has reprised the character in numerous other Power Rangers series, as well as for Super Power Beat Down. Along with an MMA career, Frank has starred in a web series, My Morphing Life, and will star as Bloodshot in the web series Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe.
