Matthew Vaughn released a 10-second trailer tease for the upcoming Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The film follows the continued exploits of the secret British spy organization.
Brevity Is The Soul of Kingsman
Trailer teases are all the rage. Usually, a trailer tease consists of 10 to 15 seconds of footage from a teaser trailer to generate buzz. Many people have varying opinions on their necessity in marketing. Some view them as necessary evils. Others think it’s a waste of time given that the full teasers make their way online within a day or so. So, Matthew Vaughn decided to appease both camps.
Vaughn released a trailer tease for Kingsman: The Golden Circle via YouTube. But, there’s a catch. The trailer tease is the full teaser trailer condensed down to 15 seconds. Only 5 of those seconds are actual footage from the film. And the remaining 10 seconds features the film’s logo played at normal speed. Calling that a bold move is an understatement. However, it’s also kind of brilliant. The decision falls right in line with Kingsman’s irreverent sensibilities. But it also serves the purpose of giving fans something proper to break down and talk about ahead of the full trailer. Fortunately, the internet did not disappoint and slowed versions of the trailer landed online.
Okay, even using YouTube’s speed settings to slow the slowed version to .25 speed, the trailer goes by quick. But, buried in the kinetic video, are some great images. We get our first proper look at The Statesman, The Kingsman’s U.S. counterparts. Also, we get a glimpse of Julianne Moore’s Poppy, the villain of the piece. Furthermore, her lair is a riff on kitschy Southern theme parks like Dollywood. She also appears to have a penchant for much higher quality burgers than the last film’s villain.
