Fox released the first full trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle this week. The film is a follow-up to the 2015 spy movie Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Kingsman: A Proper Spy Thriller
Spy movies experienced a major resurgence in 2015. That year saw the release of Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation, Spectre, Fast and Furious 7, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Each film found their audience and had some quantity of fans clamoring for a sequel. Fortunately for fans of the ultra-violent, ultra-satirical Kingsman, their number is up.
To get the festivities rolling, 20th Century Fox released the first trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Most readers probably remember last week’s trailer tease, which featured the entire teaser condensed into ten seconds. It was a hilarious send-up of trailer culture. But now the time has come to watch the trailer unfold in real time. So, without further ado, check out the trailer below:
Okay, that trailer all caps, full-stop, RULES. It’s a perfect teaser. The trailer conveys the tone of the film from the first frame but never lets the audience in on the plot. Also, the action looks great. Action films are experiencing a renaissance this year, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle looks to keep the tradition alive. However, dope action does not a good movie make. Luckily the trailer also gives a sense of how the story is expanding. We know that the Kingsman’s U.S. counterparts – The Statesman – are along for the ride. We also saw glimpses of the film’s villain, and a ton of different locales our heroes will visit. Die hard James Bond fans will notice a not-so-subtle reference to On Her Majesty’s Secret Service buried in the trailer. All in all, this thing looks like a blast and I can’t wait to re-visit this world.
