More about Wonder Woman
The “Power” advertisement highlights the pure strength that Wonder Woman and the other Amazons have at their disposal. A voiceover from Diana claims: “When war ravaged the Earth, the gods created us.” The text that appears in the promo claims that “On June 2, there is a power greater than man.” There are several snippets of battle scenes, but that’s to be expected. On the other hand, “Together” emphasizes collaboration. The spot centers around Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) poorly attempting to introduce Diana to his colleagues. This awkward conversation appears to be the basis of Diana’s alias: since Diana can’t introduce herself as “Diana, Princess of Themyscira” in the 20th century and be taken seriously, Steve Trevor cuts her off and introduces her to the room as “Diana Prince.” There are also snippets of Diana fighting off bad guys, both with and without Steve Trevor right next to her. He also gets a few solo fighting shots. The text for this promo spot reads “On June 2, the future of justice begins with her.” This implies that Wonder Woman will have some direct tie-ins to the upcoming Justice League film, which is the DCEU film next scheduled to hit theaters.
Wonder Woman will star Gal Gadot as the eponymous superheroine, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, and Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta. The film was directed by Patty Jenkins, who is the first female director in both Marvel and DC’s recent film universes. Wonder Woman will arrive in a theater near you on June 2, 2017.
