More about the Han Solo Star Wars Spinoff
The departure of Miller and Lord from the film most of the way through filming is unprecedented and concerned many fans of Han Solo specifically, and the Star Wars universe in general. It appears that the new directorial choice is meant to calm down freaking out fans of the franchise with a director known for both big films and films with a certain kind of beating heart. Ron Howard is a veteran director with such films behind him as Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind. He is widely seen as a safe choice to take over the filming of the Han Solo Star Wars spinoff film. Howard’s plan to take over the film seems to be to talk to the stars of the film and to pore over what has already been filmed to determine what else needs to be filmed. After he has accomplished those things on his to-do list, Ron Howard will resume filming of the spin-off on July 10th.
The Han Solo Star Wars spinoff does not yet have an official title. It is set to star Alden Eichenrich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as his friend Lando Calrissian, as well as Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, and Woody Harrelson in as yet unknown roles. Despite the director switch, this film is set to come to a theater near you on 25 May 2018.
