More about Star Wars: Forces of Destiny:
Star Wars: Forces of Destiny is going to feature many of the heroines that appear in the Star Wars canon. Some of the women who appear in the trailer include Rey, Jyn Erso, Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and obviously
Princess General Leia. Padme Amidala will also appear in these shorts, she just doesn’t appear in the trailer. On the other hand, Lupita Nyongo says the title in the trailer, there is just no sign of Maz Kanata (the character she played in Star Wars: The Force Awakens). It’s not clear what other heroines may appear in this series, but hopefully, these shorts will whet the appetite of fans everywhere, while giving them more backstory to the favorite characters of many.
Notably, most of the characters are going to be voiced by the actresses that originally played them. There are two exceptions to this rule. Sadly, the great Carrie Fisher passed away before she was able to do the voice work for
Princess General Leia Amidala, so she is voiced in Star Wars: Forces of Destiny by Shelby Young. In addition, Natalie Portman was not available to voice Padme Amidala in these shorts, so she’s going to be voiced by Catherine Taber.
Star Wars: Forces of Destiny will premiere on the Disney Youtube channel on 3 July 2017. It will then air on the Disney Channel on 9 July 2017.
