Once Upon a Time has been the focal point of many discussions. Should season 6 have been the last, why was it renewed for season 7 when half the cast is gone? We ourselves covered Jennifer Morrison’s departure from the ABC fantasy series. But it’s not just Morrison who is not coming back, Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin also decided not to come back while Emilie De Ravin, Rebecca Mader, and Jared Gilmore weren’t given much of a choice as their characters were cut or grew up in Gilmore’s case. Why do we mention this? Because as Variety pointed out, Once Upon a Time has cast new actors for season seven.
New Storybook Characters
The new cast members include Devious Maid’s Daina Ramirez, Burn Notice’s Gabrielle Anwar, Chicago Med’s Mekia Cox, Wasted’s Rose Reynolds and of course Reign’s Adelaide Kane. There is no word on who these characters will be or what they will add to the show.
If we had to guess we will learn more during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con considering the show has a panel after all. We’d say Ramirez will probably be grown up Henry’s (who is being portrayed by Andrew J. West) love interest. Why? Because we know Henry’s daughter Lucy is portrayed by a Latina actress Alison Fernandez so it makes sense the mother would be Latina as well.
The new actors are coming in at a moment of turmoil for the show, most of the cast is gone which means a large part of the fandom went with them. For a lot of people Once Upon a Time was Emma Swan’s story and her fairytale so they think it doesn’t really seem logical to continue without her. But the show is coming back and these new actresses will be a part of it, and we will all have to wait and see what it is that comes next.
