About Mayaneku Cosplay
★♡ Hello there ! I’m Mayaneku, a French cosplayer 😉 and an artist for…ever
For my projects I say “Never give up, it’s THE key”! ♡★
I do photo creations too, I play games, I practice dance and kung fu and I like to go in conventions.
Cosplay is the best way to express talent and volition of creation so I love it <3 And I think it’s important to share my activity with you and know your feelings ! You can share with me
How did you first get into cosplay?
I started the crazy adventure of cosplay 3 years ago. But I admit that the idea is in my head since I was 8 years old. Yes, it was when the final fantasy x game was released in France, that I had the favorite for cosplayers who embodied Yuna! But at the time, I did not yet know what the cosplay was…
Do you cosplay just for fun or do you see it as a stepping stone to a future career?
Just for fun at the moment.
But I am open to all sorts of possibilities for the future.
Do you prefer to make your cosplays from scratch, buy or commission them or a hybrid?
I create my cosplay entirely myself because it is the research of materials, reflection on a form, experimentation, and manufacture that attracts me in this vast discipline that is cosplay.
How much time do you spend making each of your cosplays?
It depends so much on the cosplay itself! But it does not happen a single day without making a piece or thinking about another. I like it so much.
What is your favorite cosplay you done so far?
I say … Ashe from League of Legends, because it is a great symbol of the beginning, she is my first cosplay 😉
What has been your most memorable experience (good or bad) as a cosplayer?
My first contest! What emotions, stress, motivation, friends … And this the best place to share roleplay and your passion.
How do you feel about group cosplays?
I like a lot, and more and more I try to make duets or groups because it gives an extra strength to the roleplay! It is like a consecration of sharing and a common passion
What cosplays are you currently working on or plan to finish this year?
I working this year on A2 from Nier: Automata.
I have planned several conventions, shooting and cosplay groups to make it live a maximum. She is a character of character and I like to incarnate what it represents because I find it close to what I am, a rebellious android. But I’m also working on Lunafreya of Final Fantasy XV, Tifa Lockhart Final Fantasy VII and I plan Aranea Highwind for the end of the year. I am a big fan of Final Fantasy and Square Enix more generally and my favorites are often from these universes.
What issues do you see being the most divisive in the cosplay community and how do you feel about it?
I think there are no major problems in the cosplay community of the moment everyone does what he likes, with his level and that it is respected
What types of characters or genres inspire your cosplay the most?
These are universes that I have always loved, fantasy, magic, science fiction, action. From a video game, a movie, a series … And then a few favorites.
In general, I like brave and ambitious characters, rebels and volunteers
What is your favorite part (researching, shopping for supplies, sewing, photo shoots, attending cons, etc.) of your cosplay process?
Absolutely all! But I must say that what I prefer is to see the progress of the research to the photographic consecration and to see that I can be satisfied with my work once finished (although in reality I am so perfectionist and it’s difficult for me to say it’s actually over) and say, I did it!
What are your best resources for cosplay materials?
Specialized sites we have in France like Cosplay Mat. But also and especially, the garage of my boyfriend! There’s all in there, it’s my Ali Baba’s cave!
What has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome as a cosplayer?
Time and money, just that
Have you learned any life lessons during your time as a cosplayer and what are they?
Yes, it is a very social activity in the end and it is something that has taught me a lot about the mentality of some people. Today I reconsider much about humanity
What is your golden cosplay rule that you would share with new cosplayers?
Passion, passion, passion
How do you feel the cosplay community has changed over time?
Many people do cosplay for business now, but I think it is before all a meeting with oneself and the way to do something we love every day
If money and time were not a factor, what is your number one over ambitious cosplay you want to do?
Bahamut from Final Fantasy
Do you set a budget for each cosplay?
No, because I buy my materials according to my desire at the moment, if I see that it is too expensive, I look for an alternative
What does cosplay mean to you?
The question! It is too complex and complete for me to define, it is above all, a commitment, a passion, a deep desire that never leaves you. It is the way to create, to make a character that has touched you, to share this passion with receptive people
Is there anything that would make you stop cosplaying?
If my second passion sports dance, has the opportunity to take me away a day, I think it would stop my cosplay, but it is still a world very inaccessible to very very high level
