Rampant Speculation: Is Mister Miracle in Wonder Woman?

With DC/WB building a shared universe with their Justice League franchise, it’s not surprising that they would throw some extra bits in to strengthen the foundations. After all, we already saw Director Zack Snyder doing this in Man of Steel, with the Wayne Enterprises and Lexcorp logos. But did Patty Jenkins go a step further in Wonder Woman, actually revealing one of Kirby’s New Gods on the streets of London?

Consider the following:

  1. We know that there have been multiple references to Apokolips and Darkseid planted already.
  2. Scott Free is one of the New Gods who rebelled against Darkseid, even becoming a member of the Justice League for a time.
  3. The fans really eat that sort of thing up.

So when a shot of a bald man, doing an escape act (on the left) on the streets of London during World War One is included in the movie, if gives one reason to pause. Particularly when the man in question does have a resemblance to Scott Free immediately after escaping Apokolips and the escape he does is in record time.

Given the editing of the scene, there’s no reason to assume it isn’t happening in real time, and if that is the case, then the escape takes about 30 seconds all told. While by today’s standards it isn’t a record-breaking escape, at the height of World War One, it certainly would have been and how better for a recently escaped Mister Miracle to earn funds to survive on, while simultaneously laying low, than by being a street performer at the height of a global war?

Of course, that is leaving out the physical resemblance. Here is Scott Free first meeting Big Barda

Note the similarity to the above man.

Of course, as the title suggests, this is all just Rampant Speculation at this point, though we are reaching out to Ms. Jenkins to see if she can shed any light on this.

Mark Driscoll

When not ranting about the current state of his favorite comics or working on The Magic Cantina, Mark spends a majority of his time renovating his newly purchased, 120 year old Victorian house. Badly. He is very bad at talking about himself in the third person, as he thinks it make him sound pretentious.
