The wildly popular YouTube series for kids, SpacePOP, makes its cinematic debut with “SpacePOP: Not Your Average Princesses,” a feature-length compilation of the hit animated series’ first season. This is the first time SpacePOP will be shown in an extended format, so audiences can enjoy an entire season from start to finish at their local cinema and on the big screen.
Presented by Fathom Events and Genius Brands International (Nasdaq: GNUS), “SpacePOP: Not Your Average Princesses” will be shown in movie theaters nationwide for one day only on Saturday, September 16 at 10:30 a.m. local time. Audiences will also get an exclusive sneak peek at season two, a chance to sing along with all-new music videos starring their favorite intergalactic princesses and other special surprises.
Tickets for “SpacePOP: Not Your Average Princesses” can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in nearly 400 select movie theaters through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network (DBN). “SpacePOP: Not Your Average Princesses” stars Rhea, Luna, Athena, Juno and Hera, princesses who disguise themselves as musicians and form a band called SpacePOP after the evil Empress Geela takes over the Planets of the Pentangle. While staying undercover, the five teenage princesses go on intergalactic adventures and make it their mission to spread the message of freedom and joy through their music. The group also joins forces with the rebel resistance to vanquish Geela and free their home planets and all of the enslaved inhabitants.
“We’re excited to bring SpacePOP from its home on YouTube to the big screen for families and fans nationwide to experience together,” Fathom Events VP of Programming Kymberli Frueh said. “It’s a great way for fans to see their favorite show with exclusive bonus features and have a communal sing along with these web stars.”
“Bringing SpacePOP to movie theaters is the next frontier for us in delivering a new experience to engage fans across the country,” said Stone Newman, President, Global Consumer Products, Worldwide Content Sales & Marketing for Genius Brands. “The storylines and music have been captivating young audiences since the series launched last summer, and we are excited to premiere this feature-length version and offer a sneak peek of season two in September.”
