Good Night, Neil deGrasse Tyson
If you’re having a hard week, the Internet has the perfect video for you. LeVar Burton, best known for hosting the children’s television program Reading Rainbow, where he promoted literature for children, reads a classic children’s tale to the Internet’s favorite astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson. Watch the video below!
In this video, astropysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson posts on Twitter that he longs for someone to read to him the children’s book Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown as he goes to sleep. In a dream sequence, LeVar Burton does just that, to the delight of Neil deGrasse Tyson and all of the viewers.
About LeVar Burton
LeVar Burton is also known in nerdy circles for playing Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation. But LeVar Burton recent projects may be the next stop on the stressed millennial’s LeVar Burton-themed relaxation journey.
First, his own podcast called LeVar Burton Reads reminds more than a few people of the popular show Reading Rainbow. In this podcast, which concluded its first season in September 2017, LeVar reads a piece of short fiction during each podcast episode. A couple of those are science fiction and fantasy stories that may interest you!
Second, LeVar Burton plays the narrator on a relatively new podcast called Deadly Manners. In Deadly Manners, characters of a varied cast find themselves at a 1950s dinner party, where things start going downhill fast. Eventually, a body turns up, and the party gets even worse.
Other stars of Deadly Manners include Kristen Bell (The Good Place) as the party’s host, Veronica; Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story) as her husband William; Alisha Boe (Thirteen Reasons Why) as their sullen adopted daughter Olivia; and RuPaul as a mysterious fortune teller. Deadly Manners will have 10 episodes in its first season, and can be found on your local podcast provider.
