Amazon Cosplay

How did you first get into cosplay?

Went to my first convention with my sister back in 2013 with our first cosplays and fell in love with it.

Do you cosplay just for fun or do you see it as a stepping stone to a future career?

I enjoy cosplaying I mostly do it for fun but I would love to cosplay as a career.

Do you prefer to make your cosplays from scratch, buy or commission them or a hybrid?

I enjoy making my own cosplays.

How much time do you spend making each of your cosplays?

I spend a different amount of time depending on what cosplay I’m working on but on average around a month.

What is your favorite cosplay you done so far?

My favorite cosplay has to be Wonder Woman.

What has been your most memorable experience (good or bad) as a cosplayer?

The first time someone approached me at a con and called me by my cosplay name “Amazon Cosplay”.

How do you feel about group cosplays?

I support group cosplays I feel it takes a lot of effort for everyone to participate.

What cosplays are you currently working on or plan to finish this year?

I am currently working on a Zatanna cosplay.

What issues do you see being the most divisive in the cosplay community and how do you feel about it?

I feel a lot of women feel the need to expose a lot of their body to gain attention. I just feel that takes a lot of credit off those who actually work hard and make their own cosplays.

What types of characters or genres inspire your cosplay the most?

Wonder Woman has always been one of my biggest inspirations in cosplay. I feel powerful and strong when I cosplay Wonder Woman.

What is your favorite part (researching, shopping for supplies, sewing, photo shoots, attending cons, etc.) of your cosplay process?

My favorite part has to be when I get asked if I made the cosplay myself and I answer yes. The look on people’s faces is priceless and the acknowledgment is an amazing.

What are your best resources for cosplay materials?

I always go to Wal-Mart first and if I can not find what I need I look online.

What has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome as a cosplayer?

When I had to make armor it was very scary but I have learned and mastered my techniques.

Have you learned any life lessons during your time as a cosplayer and what are they?

The most valuable lesson has to be to prepare ahead of time do not wait until the last minute to make a cosplay.

What is your golden cosplay rule that you would share with new cosplayers?

Hot glue can be your best friend.

How do you feel the cosplay community has changed over time?

The cosplay community has definitely grown throughout the years.

If money and time were not a factor, what is your number one over-ambitious cosplay you want to do?

I would love to make a Xena cosplay.

Do you set a budget for each cosplay?

No, but I do try to be reasonable when choosing which cosplay I want to make.

What does cosplay mean to you?

The freedom the be whoever you want to. No limits

Is there anything that would make you stop cosplaying?

I feel that I will continue to cosplay until I am to old to make my own cosplays anymore.
