About Erienne Cosplay

My cosplay name is Erienne Cosplay. I’m 27, from Spain. I’m a flight attendant but unfortunately now I’m working as a web design programmer. My hobbies are playing video games, my favourite is Metal Gear Solid, Watching TV and anime, read about World of Warcraft, and sew my own clothes.

Erienne Cosplay
Elizabeth – Bioshock Infinite

How did you first get into cosplay?

Well, I had 14 when I started in this world, I didn’t know the word cosplay I just wanted to have a beautiful costume like the character I wanted to be

Do you cosplay just for fun or do you see it as a stepping stone to a future career?

Just for fun. I love to dress like my favourite character and play as her.

Do you prefer to make your cosplays from scratch, buy or commission them or a hybrid?

I prefer to make by myself rather than buy it. Because I know how my body is and what is better for me better than anyone else so I will be more comfortable

How much time do you spend making each of your cosplays?

It depends on the costume, It’s not the same making armor than making a school uniform. In spite of this, I’m usually making it very slow…

What is your favorite cosplay you done so far?

It’s difficult to pick just one but… I love my Elizabeth (Bioshock Infinite) cosplay because I was sick those months, so I spent too many hours in bed and I was sewing all the details.

What has been your most memorable experience (good or bad) as a cosplayer?

Well, there are so many memorable experiences, I have a lot of good cosplayers friends, I meet with them out of the contest and do other things like travel. People come to me to say how beautiful is my costume and give me candy and I just think that many people are so adorable… so I can’t pick one memorable experience.

How do you feel about group cosplays?

They are awesome to meet new people, for me, I have a good time when I go with a group cosplay better than If I go alone.

What cosplays are you currently working on or plan to finish this year?

Well, I was working in my lovely Varian Wrynn from World of Warcraft but I spent so many hours working in my job so this year will be difficult to finish. So I’m planning Prince Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender and Shaina Ophiucu from Saint Seiya.

What issues do you see being the most divisive in the cosplay community and how do you feel about it?

People should try work together and make cosplay groups

What types of characters or genres inspire your cosplay the most?

Honorable characters are my weakness

What is your favorite part (researching, shopping for supplies, sewing, photo shoots, attending cons, etc.) of your cosplay process?

When I have time sewing is my favorite part, to see how is improving it and change things that you haven’t seen before. But I love photo shoots and attending cons too because you can play the character that you have been working for days.

What are your best resources for cosplay materials?

Fabrics and foam with worbla.

What has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome as a cosplayer?

Big Wings. I was mad I know I made Dragoon’s wings from the Legend of Dragoon. I don’t know how I finished it but I remember I didn’t sleep for about 3 days.

Have you learned any life lessons during your time as a cosplayer and what are they?

Well, you can find kind people whenever you go. If somebody helps you without a reward you have to do the same thing. I mean, when I break something there is always somebody to help, then why I don’t do the same?

What is your golden cosplay rule that you would share with new cosplayers?

If you think it is impossible, go outside, drink something, have fun, sleep a bit and then back with another thought. Because nothing is impossible

How do you feel the cosplay community has changed over time?

When I was younger I used to see people without wigs, or without lenses, cosplays made by paper. Now we have so many resources to make them.

If money and time were not a factor, what is your number one over-ambitious cosplay you want to do?

Lenneth Valkyrie, definitely

Do you set a budget for each cosplay?

No, it depends if I’m working or not

What does cosplay mean to you?

It’s a hobby, like playing video games, I think it is very original and you can be more creative. You have to know so many things like sewing, handcrafts, paint…

Is there anything that would make you stop cosplaying?

No, definitely not
