About Molza Cosplay
My nickname is Molza, I’ve been cosplaying for more than 10 years and right now I’m living in Cyprus. My favorite part of cosplay is making cosplay skits and performing on stage!
How did you first get into cosplay?
10 years ago I’ve decided to cosplay my favorite (at that period) character at the local anime convention – Rakka from Haibane Renmei.
Do you cosplay just for fun or do you see it as a stepping stone to a future career?
I’ve got a lot of professional skills and connection from cosplay, but cosplay itself is still a hobby for me. Maybe someday in the future…
Do you prefer to make your cosplays from scratch, buy or commission them or a hybrid?
I mostly make it myself but sometimes it’s a hybrid cause I’m OK with commissioning something tricky from professionals.
How much time do you spend making each of your cosplays?
From 1 month to few years (like Glenda from Wicked).
What is your favorite cosplay you done so far?
Glenda the Good Witch from Wicked.
What has been your most memorable experience (good or bad) as a cosplayer?
Taking part in EuroCosplay 2017.
How do you feel about group cosplays?
I love it! It’s the best part of cosplay in my opinion!
What cosplays are you currently working on or plan to finish this year?
I’m currently working on Envy from FMA.
What issues do you see being the most divisive in the cosplay community and how do you feel about it?
Unhealthy willing to compete. Cosplay should be for fun in the first place!
What types of characters or genres inspire your cosplay the most?
I love cosplaying emotional characters, cause it gives me a lot of fields to perform them on stage.
What is your favorite part (researching, shopping for supplies, sewing, photo shoots, attending cons, etc.) of your cosplay process?
Performing on stage.
What are your best resources for cosplay materials?
Local fabric store and eBay.
What has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome as a cosplayer?
Understanding that I can cosplay whatever character I want.
Have you learned any life lessons during your time as a cosplayer and what are they?
Value of teamwork.
What is your golden cosplay rule that you would share with new cosplayers?
Cosplay characters you love, it’ll give you motivation to actually finish the costume.
How do you feel the cosplay community has changed over time?
It became bigger and much more open.
If money and time were not a factor, what is your number one over-ambitious cosplay you want to do?
More musical dresses.
Do you set a budget for each cosplay?
No, it’s pointless, you never know 😀
What does cosplay mean to you?
The best hobby in the world.
Is there anything that would make you stop cosplaying?
Significant life changes, but I’m not sure.
