Jurassic World Arena Show Coming in 2019

Jurassic World Leaves The Island

Jurassic World is a massive franchise. The revival of the Jurassic Park brand is the fourth highest grossing movie of all time. And in 2018, a sequel is on the way. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens in May of this year and is the second of a planned trilogy. Of course, these movies take time, and fans have to wait years between installments. So, Universal is teaming up with Feld Entertainment for a Jurassic World arena tour.

Over the years, arena spectaculars have spiked in popularity. Many beloved franchises have received this treatment and more are added every year. Global Creatures kicked off the trend with their Walking With Dinosaurs spectacular. Since then, the technology has advanced, and the shows are more elaborate.

As an avid non-fan of Jurassic World, this is an easy thing to be cynical about. However, there’s no denying how easily this franchise lends itself to an arena show. Besides, a lot of my complaints with the film lie in its over-reliance on CGI. But when it comes to an arena show, practical effects reign supreme.

As a matter of fact, I have been to Global Creatures’ How to Train Your Dragon arena show, and it was outstanding. The level of technical skill on display is jaw-dropping. And Feld Entertainment isn’t a new kid on the block. They presented the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus for years, and currently present Marvel Universe Live!

The Ups and Downs of Arena Shows

However, these shows are a double-edged sword. They are prohibitively expensive, which means ticket prices are much higher than movie tickets. And, if you buy online, there are a bevy of service charges and hidden fees. But, these tours often stop for multiple days, which allows as many fans as possible to participate in the action. When it’s all said and done, the Jurassic World arena show is something to look forward to.

Currently, there are no other details surrounding the Jurassic World arena show. But Feld launched a website where fans can sign up for updates. Of course, there are likely more behind the scenes and technical videos on the way as the show takes shape, so keep checking the site for more info.

Have you been to one of these arena shows? Which is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
