DC Comics Cancels Supergirl and Super Sons in May

DC Comics Announces Final Issues for Titles in May Solicits

On Tuesday, DC Comics posted the solicits for its May comics. Of note—and alarm—to some fans were two cancellations. These are the Supergirl and Super Sons titles respectively. Both sell reasonably well and have been well-received. Supergirl‘s run will end with April’s issue 20, and Super Sons ends in May with issue 16. They join Trinity as the latest titles being canceled at that time. As Newsarama reports, this effectively clears the decks to prepare for the Super-titles relaunch under Brian Michael Bendis. Newsarama also pointed out that this also follows the firing of Eddie Berganza last year.

While there has been some outcry, the creative teams are already soothing fears. On Twitter, Super Sons scribe Peter J. Tomasi revealed there is a plan in motion:

Steve Orlando also tweeted about Supergirl:

However, there are other concerns about the DC Comics solicits, as Justice League and other titles are nowhere to be seen.

DC Comics to Relaunch Justice League and Titans Titles?

In May, a weekly event, Justice League: No Justice will be taking the place of numerous titles. These include Justice LeagueJustice League of AmericaTitans, and Teen Titans. The characters in those books will be taking part in the four-week long event. Justice League: No Justice showrunner and co-writer Scott Snyder explained on Twitter:

So it seems those titles will be getting new teams in June. Snyder himself will be taking over the Justice League title after No Justice. James Tynion IV and Josh Williamson will be taking care of spin-off titles. Is it possible that these include titles such as Titans or Justice League of America? Time will tell. As of now, the Titans have been separated, the Teen Titans are at each other’s throats, and the current JLA run is wrapping up.

Whatever June holds, it promises new adventures for our characters. It is not goodbye, it’s “until we meet again.”
