Last year Marvel Netflix’s Luke Cage broke records across the board for their freshman season on the streaming site. Now thanks to IGN we finally have a release date for the long-awaited season 2. Not only did we get a release date, but we got it in the best way possible. It was at the end of a teaser trailer for the second season.

Luke Cage will be back on the streaming site on June 22, 2018. That means if you by any chance haven’t seen the first season you still have time to catch up. It might have been a year since the first season of the show came into our lives, but that wasn’t the last time we saw Mike Colter’s Luke Cage. Cage was a big part of last year’s Marvel’s The Defenders. In it, we saw him team up with Jessica Jones, Matt Murdock, and Danny Rand to fight against the Hand. Cage was one of the few to come mostly unscathed out of that drama.

Season two will pick up where the first season left off. With his name finally being cleared Luke Cage becomes a bit of a celebrity in the streets of Harlem, New York. Of course, since this is a superhero show, whenever things look to be working out there’s always a new villain on the horizon. Confirmed to be back for Luke Cage season 2 is Simone Missick as Misty Knight, who had some big moments during The Defenders. Justin Swain will portray detective Mark Bailey and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the cast.

In the meantime, like we previously said: you have the time to properly catch up on Luke Cage season 1 and The Defenders season 1 if you want to see more of the man himself. And when you do, feel free to check out our review of season 1
