Looney Labs Announces Two New Star Trek Fluxx Games

Looney Labs, in partnership with Gale Force Nine, announces two new Star Trek Fluxx games featuring Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Under license by CBS Consumer Products, these are new versions of their 20-year-old bestselling strategy card game Fluxx, which will feature the most popular characters from each series including Captain Kirk and Captain Picard. Both games go on sale nationwide August 2, 2018.

Andrew Looney, CCO at Looney Labs and designer of Fluxx, says:

“I’ve been watching Star Trek since 1972, when I was 9 years old, tuning into the animated series on Saturday mornings. I’ve watched every series since, so it’s safe to say I’m a pretty big Star Trek fan. I’m VERY excited about working with this license!”

About Fluxx

Fluxx is a card game with ever-changing rules for 2-6 players, ages 8+. The gameplay starts out simple: draw one card and play one card. But New Rule cards quickly make things chaotic. The object of the game will often change as players swap out one Goal card for another.

Exclusive Preview

Trek Core, the Web’s largest and most frequently updated Star Trek multimedia resource, posted an exclusive preview of gaming publisher Looney Labs’ upcoming Star Trek FLUXX, as part of their coverage from the 2018 New York International Toy Fair. All Star Trek game art displayed in this interview is temporary, placeholder art used for product development purposes only. Certain content is obscured at the request of Looney Lab.

Future Star Trek Fluxx Expansion

In BoardGameGeek.com’s Twitch live stream from GAMA Tradeshow, Andrew Looney announced more details about the upcoming Star Trek Fluxx games. The two Fluxx games will be able to be mixed together for one larger Fluxx game, a practice that Looney doesn’t normally recommend. Also in August, around Gen Con, a new Fluxx expansion will be released that will pair these two new versions together.
