Transformers: Animated Series In Disguise
Living in the streaming age is a blessing and a curse. On one hand, there is instant access to thousands of great shows. on the other hand, there is instant access to thousands of great shows. Furthermore, none of this content is contained in one place. It’s all scattered among dozens of different services with different subscription fees and requirements. As such, it’s easy for great shows to slip under the radar. Such is the case with Transformers: The Prime Wars.
Over the last two years, go90 and Tumblr produced an epic three-part story featuring the robots in disguise. The story follows the Generation 1 and comic book continuity. Which means Optimus Prime is alive and well and leading the Autobots to victory. The series kicked off with Combiner Wars, continued into Titans Return, and is gearing up for its finale in Power of the Primes.
Power of the Primes finds Optimus Prime incapacitated and a power vacuum created in the Transformers hierarchy. In order to wipe out Megatronus, the Autobots and Decepticons must band together and find the Requiem Blaster. It’s all basic maguffin storytelling, but Machinima adds a nice layer of sheen to the narrative. Check out the first trailer below!
Okay, this series looks super dope. Also, the talented voice cast is all in for the material. So, this series is a must for die-hard Transformers fans of any generation. However, the requirement of go90 and/or Tumblr might make this a dealbreaker for some folks. Which is unfortunate, since this trilogy is some of the best Transformers storytelling in a long time. Transformers: Power of the Primes hits go90 and Tumblr on May 1st of this year.
