Big news for fans of The Walking Dead and Star Trek. After an exhaustive search to find the new lieutenant commander of the Discovery, CBS All-Access has found their leading lady in Sonequa Martin-Green, known best for her role as Sasha Williams on AMC’s mega-hit zombie apocalypse series.
About The New Star Trek Series
Star Trek: Discovery is the first new Star Trek series in a decade. Back in November, CBS announced that the new Star Trek television series would premiere in January 2017. It is the first Star Trek television series Star Trek: Enterprise, which aired from 2001 to 2005.
The premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the United States on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service.
But What About Sasha?
What does this mean as far as Sasha’s fate on The Walking Dead? According to an article on EW, it is stated that she “will continue to serve as a series regular on AMC’s zombie drama.”
The series will be filmed at Pinewood Toronto Studios. The original production dates were scheduled for the period of September 2016 to around March 2017. But setbacks in production, including delays in set construction and a change in showrunner, caused these dates to be pushed back. According to Comic Book Resources in early December, construction of the sets for are expected to be finished within a month, with filming for the series “targeted to begin shortly thereafter”. Traditionally, The Walking Dead begins production in May of each year, so there just might be time for Martin-Green to conclude filming the Star Trek series before reprising the role of Sasha.
Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere on CBS in May 2017, with all subsequent first-run episodes to be streamed weekly in the United States on CBS All Access.
