Fortnite Down: Servers Taking Critical Damage

We gamers who enjoy the online 3rd-person shooter Fortnite are going to be out of luck for a little while getting our shoot-and-loot fix. Epic’s title seems to have taken quite a hit to their servers recently. Beginning last night and still ongoing, logins are currently impossible on all platforms—PC, console, and everything in between. Of course, the main question is, when will it be back online? Honestly, no one knows. Not even the people at Epic.

Tweets have kept many fans abreast of the situation and Reddit readers got a more in-depth explanation.

We’re sorry for the ongoing extended instability. We had a critical failure with one of our account service databases. As a result, our login and matchmaking systems are unstable. Our team has been working through the night on fixes in order to bring the game fully back up. Right now we don’t know how long it will take, but we will update you hourly.

Thanks for your patience while we work to resolve these issues.

What Does One Do when Fortnite is Down?

Fortnite: Battle Royale is super popular and has quite the fan base. Of course, this doesn’t mean that those same fans will exactly sit on their hands until it’s back up. While waiting for the game to come online, a lot of people are trying to find a way to cope. Some are patiently (and not so patiently) waiting, taking to social media to find comfort with their peers. Others are switching gears and going to games with similar motifs as Fortnite. As can be expected, PUBG is one of those titles. But another, Radical Heights, is popping up on the radar as well. Will this trip-up on the Epic servers cause gamers to leave for greener pastures? We’ll find out.

Whenever they come back online.

Which might be soon, as per this recent tweet 50 minutes ago from the moment I’m typing this sentence! But we’ll see!
