It’s been an eventful 24 hours with the release of images ahead of Captain Marvel with a lot of new information from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Captain Marvel will not be answering any questions we may have following Avengers: Infinity War, as the movie is a prequel, set in the 90s. Images unveiled by Entertainment Weekly depicted some well-known and some new characters.

Marvel shows us Larson, kitted out in her costume as the titular character, as well as a sneak peek of Nick Fury–and with a major change. Perhaps the movie will answer a few questions after all? You’ll also see another familiar face in Marvel’s exclusive photos: Ronan the Accuser, who at the time the movie is set is a high-ranking member of Kree society.

Speaking of Kree, we also get a glimpse of the elite military team known as Starforce and their commander and mentor, played by Jude Law.

In the photos, Marvel also introduces us to the Skrull, who definitely give Thanos a run for his money. Going from the pictures, Talos and his team look ready to cause some vicious trouble. Time will tell.

An even more interesting character introduction is that of Maria Rambeau, portrayed by Lashana Lynch. Maria is one of Carol Danvers’ oldest friends, an Air Force pilot, single mother and general bad-ass. We’ll be watching to see what comes from Maria; looking at the comics, Maria’s daughter, Monica, ends up with superpowers and grows up to be an Avenger. This could potentially lay the way for the fourth phase of the MCU.

We’ll be “keeping an eye out” for more Captain Marvel news and eagerly anticipate its release date of March 2019.
