Aliens walk among us.
Six months ago, that line would have totally freaked me out. Now, I’m living with thousands of them and dating one — if you define dating as spending almost every waking hour together and pretty much every sleeping hour together, too, while still maintaining separate living quarters.
Aliens do walk among us — it helps that they’re here to protect the Earth, and they’re all gorgeous, too. They also run at hyper-speed, have talents humans don’t, and really have the edge in terms of stamina, seeing as they all have two hearts. From my vast but specialized experience, they’re also god-like in bed.
However, they can’t handle human machinery like cars or planes, and they can’t lie to save their or anyone else’s lives. So humans have nothing to worry about. At least, not from the ones who live here.
From the others out there in space? Oh yeah, worry. Worry a lot.
But then, remind yourself that `our’ aliens are watching over you, protecting the Earth and its citizens from danger.
And if that doesn’t make you feel all secure, this should. I’m watching over you, too.
Huh. I sort of expected more than the `Sounds of Silence’. Tough room.
From NASA to her high school reunion, Kitty has her plate full in this second novel of Gini Koch’s Alien/Katherine “Kitty” Katt series. And, if only it were that simple. Someone is out to enslave or kill Kitty’s new pals from Alpha Centauri. With leaps of super illogic, Kitty will save the day and manage not to get engaged to the wrong man (again), by means of airplane, alligator and her devastating fashion sense. But can she do it all without revealing to her best friend that aliens exist?
Expect big explosions, big snark, and even bigger surprises!
If you discounted this series as not serious enough for your book taste, or you just don’t consider SF your usual genre flavor, take a look at the following quote from ALIEN TANGO. Gini Koch gives her characters emotional depth while still having a way with words.
“Guilt tried to join my emotional party, but Heartbreak was still in control, and Confusion insisted that it had shotgun right now. Guilt slunk to the background, hovering around, waiting for its opportunity to make me more depressed.”
Yes, Kitty is walkin’ on the science-fiction side, but she’s gotta lot of paranormal happenin’ for her with more action-adventure than one gal deserves. And, mystery? We got your mystery! Just don’t shoot the messenger! (Queue Twilight Zone theme.)
