‘Smallville’ Actress, Allison Mack, Pleads Not Guilty to Sex Trafficking Charges

Mack’s Involvement in Nxivm Leads to Arrest

Allison Mack, 35, has entered a plea of not guilty to sex trafficking and forced labor conspiracy charges connected to a secret society organization called Nxivm (pronounced “nexium”). If convicted, Mack faces 15 years to life in prison. She also will appear for a bail hearing in Brooklyn Federal Court on Monday.

In addition, authorities arrested alleged cult leader and co-founder of Nxivm, Keith Raniere, 57, on similar charges. He’d fled the country to Mexico last fall after learning there was a federal criminal investigation on him. He was arrested in Mexico last month “after federal prosecutors accused him of coercing female members of Nxivm…into having sex with him and branding them with his initials…”

‘Empowerment Group’ Brands Their Victims

The organization describes itself as an empowerment group for women only. On the contrary, Mack was accused of recruiting women into a secret society within Nxivm that promoted itself as a “female mentorship group.” But in reality, according to prosecutors, “many of the female victims were branded [with Raniere’s initials] and forced to participate in sex acts with Raniere.”

Rather than empowering women, the secret society, DOS (loosely translated to “Lord/Master of the Obedient Female Companions”) promoted a pyramid scheme.  The new members (called “slaves”) would be obedient to the level of women (“masters”) above them. And then the “slaves” were told to recruit other women.  As a result, the “slaves” would then become “masters.” At the top of the pyramid was Raniere.  He would allegedly use all of the women as sex slaves and enforce the branding of them.  If that wasn’t sick enough he would starve the ones who did not fit his desired body size.

Co-Star Kreuk had Introduced Mack

According to the New York Post, Mack’s “Smallville” co-star, Kristen Kreuk, was introduced to Nxivm around 2007. Former Nxivm publicist Frank Parlato said, “Allison was used, as was Kristen, as a lure to bring in other women because of their celebrity status.” Kreuk left the group in 2012, “before female acolytes began getting forcibly branded with cauterizing pens.”

Mack played Chloe Sullivan and Kreuk played Lana Lang on the CW’s series “Smallville.”
