Anticipated Book Releases for February 2020

It’s that time again! Time for us to talk about the Anticipated Book Releases for February 2020. As always, the books I’ve chosen to list all have a science fiction or fantasy focus, which I’ll admit is a personal preference of mine (and the site itself, so win-win!).

This month it seems like there are a whole bunch of amazing books stacked together early on. Thankfully, there also seem to be a few scattered towards the end. Also, you may notice another trend here; there are a lot of series getting started this month! One thing is certain: it’s going to be a busy month for us readers!

Blackbird Rising by Keri Arthur – Feb 3rd

anticipated releases Feb 2020Blackbird Rising is the first book in The Witch King’s Crown by Keri Arthur. Inspired by the legend of King Arthur, this series focuses on the infamous Witch King’s sword and the witch who gets wrapped up in its tale.

All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace – Feb 4th

All the Stars and Teeth is the first novel in a new series of the same name by Adalyn Grace. Set in a world where mermaids are real, this fantasy series is sure to grab readers’ attention. Amora Montara is the princess of Visidia, but all she’s really ever wanted was the option to chose her own magic, and destiny.

The Queen’s Assassin by Melissa de la Cruz – Feb 4th

The Queen’s Assassin the first novel in a whole new series written by Melissa de la Cruz. The series is known as The Queen’s Secret, and the first novel, unsurprisingly, follows the Queen’s royal assassin, Caledon Holt. He’s been sworn to protect and save the princess, but that doesn’t mean his task is going to be an easy one.

Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey – Feb 4th

anticipated releases Feb 2020Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey is a novel that has been getting a lot of ink as of late, and with good reason. This is a pulp Western novel with strong queer features. This is the tale of Esther, librarians, and freedom.

Malice by Pintip Dunn – Feb 4th

Malice is the disturbing new tale from the mind of Pintip Dunn. This is the chilling tale of a race against the clock. One student desperately seeks to find the carrier of a deadly virus before he kills one-third of the population—and that’s the best-case scenario, should he be allowed to go further with his plans.

Ember Queen by Laura Sebastian – Feb 4th

anticipated releases Feb 2020Ember Queen is the third and final novel in the Ash Princess Trilogy by Laura Sebastian. So it’s understandable that people have been fairly excited to get their hands on this novel. Princess Theodosia, the Ash Princess, has gone through a lot at her relatively young age. But that hasn’t diminished her resolve in the least. Now she’s here to save her people.

The Unspoken Name by A.K. Larkwood – Feb 11th

The Unspoken Name is the first novel in A.K. Larkwood‘s The Serpent Gates series. Csorwe has been given two choices in life. Follow the path she was raised for: to become an honored sacrifice to the Unspoken. Or leave and become a spy and assassin. What choice would you make?

Ink in the Blood by Kim Smejkal – Feb 11th

Ink in the Blood is the first novel in a series of the same name by Kim Smejkal. This dark YA fantasy combines theater and magic together into one beautifully intricate story. Celia and Anya, two best friends and fellow inklings, are about to set out on the most epic of quests, all in the name of keeping themselves and their family safe.

Stormsong by C.L. Polk – Feb 11th

anticipated releases Feb 2020Stormsong is the second novel in The Kingston Cycle by C.L. Polk. Following the events of Witchmark, Dame Grace Hensley’s job is far from over. This fantasy series is as creative as it is intricate, full of magic, cabals, and so much more.

Night Spinner by Addie Thorley – Feb 11th

Night Spinner is the first novel in a new series (of the same name) by Addie Thorley. In this tale, the Grishaverse (by Leigh Bardugo) meets The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Enebish was a warrior, but now she’s become something else—a destroyer. But she is given a chance at redemption, though the journey will not be what she’s expected.

How to Love Your Elf by Kerrelyn Sparks – Feb 25th

How to Love Your Elf is Kerrelyn Sparks‘ first novel in the Embraced by Magic series. Five women—sisters in all but blood—are setting off to change the world, though perhaps they didn’t know that at the time.

Imaginary Numbers by Seanan McGuire – Feb 25th

anticipated releases Feb 2020Imaginary Numbers is the ninth novel in Seanan McGuire‘s InCryptid series. This urban fantasy series follows the Price family—a family dedicated to cryptozoology and the protection of it (and the creatures they come across).
