Batman And Harley Quinn To Premiere At SDCC
Batman and Harley Quinn, Together Again!
Batman & Harley Quinn, the latest DC Animated Original movie, is set to premiere at San Diego Comic-Con. San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is where the first DC Animated Original movie, Superman Doomsday. The new film will premiere in the San Diego Convention Center’s Ballroom 20 for an estimated 4,250 people. The summary of the new film reads:
In Batman and Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) embark on an ecological quest to save the planet—and, unfortunately, eliminate most of humankind along the way. To save humanity, Batman and Nightwing are forced to enlist Harley Quinn to catch Poison Ivy, Harley’s BFF and frequent partner-in-crime. But Batman’s patience is put to the test by the unpredictable and untrustworthy Harley during the twists and turns the reluctant companions face during their bumpy road trip. The result is a thrill ride of action, adventure and comedy no Batman fan has seen before.
The film reunites Kevin Conroy and Loren Lester from Batman: The Animated Series as Batman and Nightwing respectively. Melissa Rauch, best known for playing Bernadette on The Big Bang Theory, steps into the black and red tights of Harley Quinn. She will be following in the footsteps of original Harley voice actress Arleen Sorkin and modern Harley voice actress Tara Strong. Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Family Guy/The Cleveland Show) will voice Poison Ivy and the Floronic Man respectively.
The whole film comes from the mind of Bruce Timm, who designed the look of the DC Animated Universe (DCAU) of the 1990s and 2000s. Timm returns to write the film and to design the look as well, hewing close to the beloved cartoons. But don’t let that fool you, this animation is NOT for kids. Sam Liu directs from Timm’s script.
The film is set to be released digitally on August 15th, with a physical release on August 19th.
