Comedian Bo Burnham to Write Songs for Sesame Street Film
Comedian, director, and songwriter Bo Burnham is set to write some songs for the upcoming Sesame Street movie. Geeky Tyrant notes that Jonathan Krisel is set to direct the film and Anne Hathway, for now, is the only actor cast in the film. The film is due for release in January of 2021.
James Gunn Affect
Sesame Street is used to having talented actors and musicians in their corner. Much like Bo Burnham, other stars working with Sesame Street weren’t exactly “family friendly either. Cheech Marin has been on the show before. You may think studios would play it a little safe. You know with all that James Gunn controversy still floating around.
But, Bo Burnham is a talented comedian and musician so it is not hard to see why they went with him. He is also an accomplished director with his film Eight Grade. You can check out a full hour of one of his stand up specials here. Obviously, he will keep the Sesame Street stuff family friendly. It will be interesting to see what he brings to the film.
What Do We Know?
Not much is know about the movie right now. Obviously, with a 2021 release date, we have quite some time. And Deadline does have a short synopsis of the film. Big Bird and his Sesame Street friends are mysteriously expelled from their neighborhood, finding themselves in Manhattan. They team up with Sally Hawthorne, a plucky history-show host who’s on a quest to save her program and prove that Sesame Street actually exists. Obstacles are created by the “evil” mayor, with reasons of his own for keeping Sesame Street hidden from the world.
