Activision is swinging for the fences with a $550 million collection three days after the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops III – and that fans are loving it. Variety reports that players are logging more played hours than any other Black Ops game, this CoD behemoth is reengaging fans after the similar smash hit of its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
“The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launch is bigger than any game, any movie, or any entertainment launch this year. But more importantly, our fans are engaging more deeply with the franchise than ever before. In fact, so far, people are playing Black Ops III for more hours per player than any ‘Call of Duty’ game on record,” said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg. “Call of Duty is more than a game, it’s a year round passion for a growing base of millions of fans and it’s only gaining momentum.”
While those numbers are indicative of if they include the $429.99 price for the Playstation 4 bundle or copies of the game only, its already proven to be a payoff for Sony after investing more focus on the PS4 market. Call of Duty: Black Ops III became the best selling digital game on its first day in the Playstation store in PS4 history to date.
