Saw is Getting a Reboot
Chris Rock and Lionsgate productions have apparently teamed up to bring us a rebooted version of Saw.
On the off chance that somebody doesn’t know about these movies, we’re going to talk about them real quick. Saw is a horror movie franchise. They feature a killer known as Jigsaw (or the Jigsaw Killer, to some), also known as John Kramer.
Jigsaw loves to put his victims in strange and twisted puzzles, forcing them to do horrendous things in the faintest hope of surviving.
The movie series has been a total hit, for the most part. The films don’t actually cost Lionsgate that much to produce, and they bring in significantly more than that. So it’s really no surprise that a reboot is around the corner.
Chris Rock is the one who approached Lionsgate with the idea for a reboot. Apparently, he has an idea for an even darker and more twisted rendition of the movie, if you can believe that. The chairman of Lionsgate confessed that they couldn’t pass up the opportunity, mainly because they loved Chris Rock’s vision.
Behind the Scenes
We already know a surprising amount about the movie, which shows how quickly they’re putting it through its paces. Chris Rock came up with the original concept, but Pete Goldfinger is the one who is putting pen to paper.
Mark Burg and Oren Koules are producing the movie, while Darren Lynn will be the director. Darren Lynn was behind Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV. So it’s safe to say he’s familiar with the franchise. And executive producers are going to be Chris Rock (of course), Daniel Heffner, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell. Wan and Whannell were both behind the original Saw movie, so it’s in safe hands.
Saw has an expected release date of October 23rd, 2020. So get ready!
