Wanderers by Chuck Wendig Is Getting Turned Into a Show
Written by Chuck Wendig, Wanderers is a heavy-hitting novel about the end of the world. Okay, admittedly half the reason this novel is so heavy-hitting is because of the timing, but the term would still apply either way.
A group of the most unlikely people is about to be brought together, and it’s all because of a world-changing event. Something is happening. One day, certain people just get up, and they begin walking.
Nothing on this earth can stop them. Stopping them has proven to be deadly. For both parties. The answer to this great mystery is even more complex than one might ever imagine, as experts diving into viruses and potential outbreaks.
Wanderers was optioned for an adaptation before the novel itself had even been released. Still, that was over a year ago. That means it’s time for an update, thankfully there is some news worth talking about.
Lionsgate Television is officially behind the project, and it gets better. They’ve hired Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) to lead the adaptation. This is pretty much the best-case scenario, as there’s no doubt that Mazzara will do justice to the novel.
There’s still no update on when the adaptation will release, however. Given the state of the world right now (an ironic comparison to Wanderers), it’s likely that all forward momentum has been stopped for the moment.
There is one more small piece of good news worth talking about. Chuck Wendig has officially announced that he’s already working on the sequel. The novel will be due to release sometime in 2022 and has been titled Wayward. Start counting down…
