About FlashFletch Cosplay
Dustin Fletcher, FlashFletch Cosplay, is a cosplayer who enjoys doing crazy make ups and builds, as well as doing charity work for Heroes Alliance. When not cosplaying he is a set costumer and Ager/Dyer for film and television focusing on the superhero and horror genres. His credits include Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Captain America: Civil War, Goosebumps, Constantine, The Walking Dead and Powers.
How did you first get into cosplay?
I got into cosplay through LARPing. I started LARPing when I was 14 and after about 2 years dressing up as an elf I found out I could also dress up as my favorite anime and comic characters! I was hooked ever since! Now I do both!
How much time do you spend making your costumes?
Too long. Haha! Hours and hours.
What’s your favorite cosplay you’ve done so far?
Definitely my Iceman
Do you usually get positive reactions from fans?
What’s the next costume or event you’re preparing for?
Heroes Con and I am debuting Changeling from the Teen Titans. Gonna be doing a mid shape change into an ape.
What characters inspire you the most?
My all time favorite character is The Flash. He inspires me and who I relate to the most. It was the 1st comic I ever read and grew up reading him and still do to this day
What is your primary area of inspiration for your cosplay? Comics, anime, games or other?
Mainly comics. But I do plan a few from some games and novels in the future.
What are your best resources for cosplay materials?
I do a lot of my builds out of foam and I love to use make up FX in my costumes as much as possible.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give new cosplayers?
Don’t give up! We have all started from somewhere!
What’s your golden rule of cosplay?
Cosplay is for everyone! No matter your age, race, size, gender. Anyone can cosplay anything!
What does your budget run per costume?
Depends on the costume. Anywhere from a few hundred dollars to well over a thousand.
Is there anything that would make you stop cosplaying?
If money and time were no issue, what’s your number one over ambitious cosplay?
Probably a screen accurate and well-fitting CW flash suit. Lol
Why do you cosplay?
Because its fun and I enjoy it. But mainly because of the smile it puts on peoples faces, especially kids. I am apart of a non-profit charity cosplay group called Heroes Alliance. We get to dress up and become true heroes to kids in need. It’s literally the best feeling in the world!
