I’m Georgia, 19; I study, work part time, love my boyfriend and the gym. I’m from Queensland Australia and I share what makes me happiest.
How did you first get into cosplay?
A high school friend introduced me to it and a few years later I started making my own costumes.
Do you cosplay just for fun or do you see it as a stepping stone to a future career?
I love cosplay and find very fun and challenging. I am not determined to make it my career but if it happened I’d never work another day in my life <3
Do you prefer to make your cosplays from scratch, buy or commission them or a hybrid?
Definitely, love making my cosplays. it challenges me to try new techniques and grow my skill set
How much time do you spend making each of your cosplays?
I try to spread it out over a few weeks but sometimes it’s 3 days before a convention
What is your favorite cosplay you done so far?
Probably Christmas Harley Quinn I made my own pattern for it and wore it for my first event I ever hosted.
What has been your most memorable experience (good or bad) as a cosplayer?
It would have to be when I first got approached by my now friend and photographer Eli who was the first person to shoot me, in my first handmade cosplay, Wonder Woman
How do you feel about group cosplays?
I love groups and love being included in them, it is the perfect chance to learn from others and work with cosplayers that I look up to in my area
What cosplays are you currently working on or plan to finish this year?
So many, this is a big year for me.
I have in the works right now:
Mavis from Hotel Transylvania
Jane Foster Thor
Artemis from Young Justice
What issues do you see being the most divisive in the cosplay community and how do you feel about it?
Bullying and drama, I will always stand up for cosplayers whether in real life or online.
What types of characters or genres inspire your cosplay the most?
I guess it would have to be DC Comics, there is nothing better than being a hero or badass villain
What is your favorite part (researching, shopping for supplies, sewing, photo shoots, attending cons, etc.) of your cosplay process?
I wouldn’t know how to choose ^_^ I love all of it for many different reasons <3
What are your best resources for cosplay materials?
Local fabric shops, bunnings, and online wig shops. I ask other cosplayers for recommendations and youtube is always a fantastic resource for ideas
What has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome as a cosplayer?
Armour and prop making. it is the most out of my comfort zone and I still know I need to my skills in this
Have you learned any life lessons during your time as a cosplayer and what are they?
If I give myself enough time I can create something I will be more proud of and develop my skills better than if I rush to put something together
What is your golden cosplay rule that you would share with new cosplayers?
Finished. Not perfect.
If you try to rush things and keep pushing it to be perfect you may ruin more than improve it
How do you feel the cosplay community has changed over time?
I haven’t been a part of it for that long but it is growing to include so many more people and that’s okay as long as they are doing it out of love for their fandom and characters and others
If money and time were not a factor, what is your number one over ambitious cosplay you want to do?
I’ve never told myself I can’t do a cosplay but I know I want to do it better than I currently can. it would probably be something with large fancy armour like Pepper Pots iron suit
Do you set a budget for each cosplay?
Not particularly, I just buy things over a span of time and some cosplays I may be willing to invest more money in than others. but if I can find what I need cheaply then I will source the best deal
What does cosplay mean to you?
It is costume play, the ultimate combination of my old hobbies (cheerleading and art) and at the moment is the best way for me to channel my creativity and express myself
Is there anything that would make you stop cosplaying?
I may just find something that fits me better, maybe fall out of love with the whole thing. but I have no plans to stop
