About Prettyrolla Cosplay
Hi!! I’m Prettyrolla Cosplay, I’m an Italian cosplayer. I’m 29 years old. I’m a nurse in a real life. I love music (I am a bassist) and anime, comics and obviously cosplay!!!
How did you first get into cosplay?
My first cosplay was in 2011 with Misa Amane from Death Note anime. It was incredible and I fell in love with it.
Do you cosplay just for fun or do you see it as a stepping stone to a future career?
Well, I do it for passion but I’d like to become something more.
Do you prefer to make your cosplays from scratch, buy or commission them or a hybrid?
I prefer to make my cosplay by myself!! But sometimes it could be hard so I ask someone for help, haha haha!
How much time do you spend making each of your cosplays?
Well, it depends on the character… Some characters are simpler than others but one can expect from 1 to 2 months of work…
What is your favorite cosplay you done so far?
It’s a hard question, I love every cosplay I made. But if I should choose, I choose Ms. Marvel.
What has been your most memorable experience (good or bad) as a cosplayer?
There are really so many experiences but to participate in a cosplay contest jury was really a fantastic experience.
How do you feel about group cosplays?
It’s fabulous!! I love cosplaying but when you do it with your friends or new people who have your same passion – it is sublime.
What cosplays are you currently working on or plan to finish this year?
I’m working on Magik from Marvel, Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen, and on an original.
What issues do you see being the most divisive in the cosplay community and how do you feel about it?
Many see the cosplay just like a race… there are so envy and ugliness… but it’s no cosplay… cosplay is sharing a passion together and have fun.
What types of characters or genres inspire your cosplay the most?
I like the characters that are strong, powerful, beautiful, sweet.
What is your favorite part (researching, shopping for supplies, sewing, photo shoots, attending cons, etc.) of your cosplay process?
There is not a favorite part, I like every part of cosplay.
What are your best resources for cosplay materials?
Internet and Friends in the cosplay world.
What has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome as a cosplayer?
Have enough money to do everything!
Have you learned any life lessons during your time as a cosplayer and what are they?
Yes… I learned that, despite the adversity, we have to believe and work hard to get to the goal.
What is your golden cosplay rule that you would share with new cosplayers?
Do not give up and do not give and do what you like 🙂
How do you feel the cosplay community has changed over time?
Well, I’ve seen some make cosplay just because it’s trendy and I do not really like that.
If money and time were not a factor, what is your number one over ambitious cosplay you want to do?
An original armor.
Do you set a budget for each cosplay?
No… it is impossible… haha haha!
What does cosplay mean to you?
It means a lot; friendships, fun, pride, love, laughs, testing yourself.
Is there anything that would make you stop cosplaying?
No, I hope nothing in the future.
