About Vincent Valo Cosplay
Myranda, 26, portland,OR. Actress, gamer, and cosplayer! Also doggy and kitty mommy!
How did you first get into cosplay?
I fell in love with Angewomon from Digimon, and thought…I want to be just like her. So i spent all this time as an eleven year old making this elaborate awful digimon costume, and loved every minute of it. From then on it was just a gift trying to make costumes of the characters I admired.
How much time do you spend making your costumes?
Anywhere from a day to several months!
What’s your favorite cosplay you’ve done so far?
This is a difficult question. Based on quality, i believe my Hannah from Rat Queens was on point. My Silent Hill nurse was young but really fun in character. And D.Va was my buggest prop im proud of!
Do you usually get positive reactions from fans?
Yes! And I love it! I love talking to people about mutual fandoms and passions!
What’s the next costume or event you’re preparing for?
Janna of the Star Guardians, and maybe some classic studio ghibli!
What characters inspire you the most?
Strong females, not afraid to have their voice be heard.
What is your primary area of inspiration for your cosplay? Comics, anime, games or other?
All genres. I love mangas, anime, adore comics and graohic novels. Ive cosplayed literature characters and video game characters. Even cartoons. Anyone i love and respect is game for me!
What are your best resources for cosplay materials?
Craft stores and Amazon!
What’s one piece of advice you’d give new cosplayers?
Follow your heart, try your hardest, and watch YouTube videos!
What’s your golden rule of cosplay?
Respect everyone. Help anyone with questions. This is a joy, not a status contest. Everyones a beginner at some point.
What does your budget run per costume?
At least $150- $300 dollars.
Is there anything that would make you stop cosplaying?
No. I…really can’t imagine anything that would.
If money and time were not issues, what’s your number one over ambitious cosplay?
Big sister from Bioshock!
Why do you cosplay?
Because I love it. I love the frustrating hours trying to get the size just right, the color just perfect, and the personal touch subtle but noticeable. I have a theater degree, and bringing characters to life is a passion for me. I deeply appreciate it.
