Where No Woman Has Gone Before
With the new Star Trek Picard series in the works, CBS All Access has found their Captain for the pilot in Hanelle Culpepper. Now if you don’t know that name you should, because she has been working as a director on some of your favorite shows, like The Flash, Supergirl, Gotham, The Originals, Lucifer, How to Get Away with Murder, oh, and did I forget to mention Star Trek: Discovery? That’s the one that really shows how prepared Culpepper is to go on this journey.
One Small Step
So why is this newsworthy? Because she’s the first woman ever to direct a Star Trek pilot. Even more, she’s in charge of bringing back one of Trek’s most beloved captains, Jean-Luc Picard, our favorite French, British accent-speaking, bald hero. Culpepper’s experience in the Star Trek universe should give every fan comfort and shows that CBS believes in the talent they’ve been bringing in to work on Star Trek: Discovery.
With the success of film series and the streaming series, there’s a floodgate of potential Star Trek series that could come out, and who wouldn’t be excited for that?
A Closer Look at the Star Trek Picard Series
There’s still not much to go on about the show, but from CBS News it’s known that Patrick Stewart is returning to reprise his role and act as an executive producer on the show. The series is to take place after Star Trek: The Next Generation. No release date as of yet, but I bet there will be some more news coming out soon during Comic-Con.
