Daredevil Season 2 Trailer Debuts at NYCC

The past weekend at New York Comic Con, Marvel fans were treated to the first teaser trailer for the next season run of the series, Daredevil.

The Daredevil origin story follows the exploits of Matt Murdock (played by Cox), a blind lawyer with superhuman senses who fights crime at night in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Aside Cox, the Netflix series also stars Rosario Dawson as Claire, Elden Henson as Foggy, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen. Scott Glenn will also reprise his role as Stick for three episodes in the upcoming season.

Season 2 will introduce new faces, Élodie Yung as Elektra and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. Elektra was referenced in season 1, but season 2 will mark her first appearance on screen. She is described as “a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.”

At the NYCC panel, Yung spoke about her role as Elektra.

“It’s intense, it’s exciting and I can’t be happier, really.”

Yung, who has studied Muay Thai and is a black belt of karate, said that at her audition, she told everyone in the room “I can kick your ass,” which she thinks got her the role.

According to The Nerdist, Bernthal will have a significant role as the Punisher in the new season. Co-showrunner Marco Ramirez has described the new season as “Daredevil vs. The Punisher.”

Bernthal said about playing Punisher,

“I know how important this character is to you guys. And I know how important this show is to you guys. It’s a huge honor, a huge responsibility and I give you my absolute word I’ll give all that I have.”

Daredevil’s second season doesn’t have an official launch date yet, assuming that it keeps the same schedule as the first season, we should see it on screen in April of 2016.

Until then, you can watch the teaser trailer here.
