DC Universe Promo Shows Off 2019 Schedule

The DC Universe promo trailer teases fans on what they can expect from the streaming service in its first full calendar year. Check out the video below and let’s take a look at what the DC Universe promo is looking to bring for 2019.

DC Universe Promo Trailer Details New Shows!

Much of the initial footage from the DC Universe promo revealed a montage of first season scenes from Titans. Season 1 just concluded Dec. 21, 2018. Being the first original series from DC Universe, every episode will remain on the service permanently. However, fans are hopeful that new episodes will arrive this coming year. A few recent reports suggest that filming for Season 2 could begin as early as February. DC may even be looking for a late 2019 premiere date for the next wave of episodes.

With the addition of a slew of previous films and comics that will be added to the service in 2019, the DC Universe promo also revealed five brand new original series in 2019. The first to arrive will be January’s Young Justice: Outsiders, which is the third installment in the beloved animated series. The DC Universe promo also revealed Feb. 15 will launch the first episode of Doom Patrol (a spin-off of Titans). The roster will also include a live-action Swamp Thing show, as well as a Stargirl series. There is also an animated Harley Quinn series coming towards the end of the year.

Overview: What To Expect

Looking behind the scenes on some of these shows, it’s clear that these series have some potential.

Young Justice

Season 3 of Young Justice has already been the highlight of the DC Universe, especially after its cancellation on Cartoon Network in 2013. A strong campaign by fans and high ratings on Netflix prompted the revival by Warner Bros. The return of some of the original voice actors and writers have hyped fans already. Original showrunners of the last two seasons, Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti, have already been vocal about what viewers should expect from this season. According to Vietti, Outsiders will revisit ideas that he and Weisman had originally planned while making the first two seasons of the show!

Doom Patrol

With Doom Patrol, April Bowlby, Brendan Fraser, and Matt Bomer are set to reprise their roles in the spin-off series. Having made their first appearance on Episode 6 of Titans, Jeremy Carver is expected to write the series and executive-produce alongside Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter. Carver is known for his work on Supernatural as a writer and story editor. He became a co-producer on the fifth season of the show but left the series at the end of that year. Carver also served as an executive producer and showrunner for Syfy’s Being Human. He also wrote, executive-produced and developed the 2016 series, Frequency.

Swamp Thing

Swamp Thing includes notable producer James Wan (who had just received glowing reviews from his film Aquaman), with Derek Mears portraying the creature in a costume rather than CGI. Alec Holland will be portrayed by Andy Bean. Writers on the pilot include Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman. Len Wiseman is set to direct.

Stargirl

Brec Bassinger (The Goldbergs, The Haunted Hathaways) is set for the titular role in Stargirl, which will have Geoff Johns write the pilot episode and executive-produce alongside Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.

Harley Quinn

Finally, the animated Harley Quinn series will feature Kaley Cucuo (The Big Bang Theory) as the titular star of the show, as well as featuring the voice talents of Lake Bell, Diedrich Bader, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, J. B. Smoove, Jason Alexander, Wanda Sykes, and so many more!

Other than Doom Patrol, none of the new series have a firm premiere date.
