According to Entertainment Weekly, the release date for the Marvel and Netflix show The Defenders has been announced. The full series will drop on Netflix on 18 August 2017. The date was released in a teaser trailer that you can watch below!
More about The Defenders Announcement:
The series release date was initially announced through a teaser video that was published on Youtube. In the video, the title characters were captured on surveillance footage at Midland Circle, a corporation important to the second season of Daredevil. They’re in an elevator, seemingly not doing anything plot relevant. When Jessica Jones (Kristen Ritter) noticed the camera recording them, she punched it out at the 08:18:20:17 mark, indicating the date when the series will be released on Netflix. The numbers stay on the screen for a couple seconds
Do you think that the evidence for the release date is somewhat spurious? Well, if you pay attention to the top left corner of the “surveillance footage,” you can see an IP address. When you put that IP address into your browser, you get to the website of the fictional newspaper “The New York Bulletin,” which employs Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) as of the second season of Daredevil. This web page is filled with images of fictional cover articles reporting on our primary heroes’ metropolitan antics, as well as a video set during Iron Fist and an advertisement for Colleen’s dojo. If you scroll to the bottom of that webpage, you can see an announcement which reads “Watch “Marvel’s The Defenders” All Episodes Streaming Only on Netflix August 18.”
The Defenders will star Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Kristen Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Coulter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand, and Sigourney Weaver as “Alexandra.”
