New Trailer Shows an Incredible Family Divided
Crank up the Incredibles theme. Pixar’s first family of incredible superheroes is back in this sequel to the 2004 film. Disney released the sneak peek for The Incredibles 2 during the Olympics on Wednesday night. This is in addition to three new posters earlier this week. I can hear Sirius Black from Harry Potter in the background saying, “I’ve done my waiting!” It’s been 14 years, and fans of Pixar have been dying to see this sequel released.
In this follow-up film, superheroes have become illegal and it’s up to the family to handle being pushed into the shadows. Dash has a wonderful line at the dinner table as he says, “I need to be a superhero, it’s what defines me.” Meanwhile, Elastigirl comes back into the field as a superhero thanks to a businessman who wants the heroes to return. Mr. Incredible must then raise the kids on his own while Elastigirl saves the world.
I’m hopeful this sequel will deliver on its nearly 15-year wait. The film will pick up exactly where the first left off with the Underminer taking over the city. The sneak peek features a bunch of good Disney humor and the film will certainly have a great message about the importance of family. This theme made the first film a classic and the movie is considered one of Pixar’s best to date. Frozone and Edna Mode also make appearances to help Mr. Incredible take on his new responsibility as a stay-at-home father. Baby Jack-Jack discovering his powers will add a lot of possibilities for some hilarious moments in addition to the serious themes typical for a Pixar film. Pixar knocked it out of the park with Coco last year, so I expect nothing less than a wonderful summer blockbuster this time around.
The Incredibles 2, directed by Pixar veteran Brad Bird, arrives in theaters on June 15, 2018.
