On the Second Anniversary of Her Passing, Fans Remeber Fisher
It’s hard to believe that two years have already passed since the legend Carrie Fisher passed away. Her fans still remember her fondly, and will likely do so for years to come. Here we look back over the last couple of weeks.
Most fans know Carrie Fisher because of her role as Leia Organa in Star Wars. Some know her as Princess Leia, others as General Organa. Regardless of how her title is remembered, she’s still a well-loved and received character among many fans.
Fisher’s work as Leia is frequently regarded as being the moment where the door opened for more options on screen for women. Before Leia, female characters weren’t given the chance to be strong, smart, and pretty. Usually, they were given one of the three options, at best. But Star Wars changed all of that, and because of that Carrie Fisher’s legacy will forever live on.
Thanks to the groundbreaking work of Carrie Fisher, her fans are more than willing to share thanks and fond memories of the late actress. I don’t think there are any words that could truly express the deep loss man of her fans still feel to this day, but it’s been heartwarming to see so many fans out there trying.
Fans flocked to twitter on the anniversary, using hashtags like #CarrieOnForever, #CarrieFisher, and #StarWars to help boost the signal. Some shared their favorite photos of her, while others quoted her. Other fans used simple words and phrases, while yet other fans wrote pages worth of their feelings towards the remarkable woman.
One of the frequently used quotes (and a personal favorite of mine) was “Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually, the confidence will follow.” This is one of my favorite quotes by Carrie Fisher, and it does a wonderful job of showing just how inspiring of a person she could truly be.
