Justice League Part One has a new cast member in actress Amber Heard. According to Variety, Heard is in talks to take on the role of Aquaman’s (Jason Momoa) love interest in the 2017 film. Heard will be joining the seasoned comic book character cast of Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams as part of the Justice League Part One team. However, unlike her Justice League cast mates, Heard is not expected to make an appearance in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film (which will be released on March 26th, 2016).
Alternately, Heard will take part in James Wan’s upcoming Aquaman film.
While little is known about the 2018 Aquaman film, Heard is reported to star as Mera, whom DC comics fans will recognize as Aquaman’s wife (queen of the sea). Mera is described by DC Comics as a character with a quick temper and astounding beauty who possesses super strength among her water related abilities. Mera’s hot temper and superior strength should play well into Momoa’s version of Aquaman, who appears to be darker, more serious, and perhaps more calculating than the Aquaman we have seen in the past.
Amber Heard is a 29-year-old actress from Austin Texas who previously appeared in the Acaemy Award nominated film North Country according to her IMDB page. Heard’s other acting accomplishments include roles in a variety of films including: Zombieland, Never Back Down, Magic Mike XXL, and The Adderall Diaries. Heard’s appearances in Justice League Part One and Aquaman will mark new acting territory for the young actress as these will be her first ventures into the portrayal of comic book characters.
