The Last Godzilla: King of the Monsters Trailer is Here

The sequel to 2014 Godzilla is almost here. Set to premiere May 31, 2019, Godzilla: King of the Monsters has released its final trailer for the feature film. Directed by Michael Dougherty, it stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Millie Bobby Brown, Charles Dance, Bradley Whitford, Aisha Hinds, Zhang Ziyi, and Thomas Middleditch. Godzilla: King of the Monsters finds the world ravaged by giant “Titans” and Earth’s only hope is Godzilla! Check out the trailer below.

Hail to the King, Baby

Avengers: Endgame is obviously my most-anticipated movie this year (check all the articles I have written about it). But after that Godzilla: King of the Monsters is my most anticipated movie of the summer. I am a huge Godzilla fan from back in the day and have really enjoyed this “Godzilla Connected Universe” or Monsterverse they have been slowly crafting. Now, some people had problems with it, but I really dug the 2014 Godzilla movie. I like that they held off a lot on showing Godzilla. Then I was really blown away by Kong: Skull Island. I wasn’t expecting much, but that movie remains a ton of fun. Plus you can catch three MCU actors in action with Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, and Samuel L. Jackson all starring in it.

They have stealthily set up this connected universe well. These other giants—”Titans”, the term the movie uses for the giant Kaiju—were teased well in Kong: Skull Island. It seems also that we are going to get all the giant monster battles we could ever dream of, as the trailer shows not only Godzilla but also Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah all going at it. This will also lead up to Godzilla vs Kong in 2020.

All Monsters Attack

So, the biggest thing we can pull from the final Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer is that there are 17 confirmed “Titans”. We know, obviously, Godzilla; then we have Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan. I am guessing they are counting Kong, maybe. and if they count the MUTO’s from the first Godzilla film that is only 7 “Titans”. So, there are still a lot more monsters to be seen. I actually wrote an article in 2017 about what Kaiju I would like to see in the Monsterverse!

Every Godzilla fan has their favorite Kaiju. I am personally hoping Godzilla’s best bud Anguirus shows up! Are you excited for Godzilla: King of the Monsters? Which of your favorite Godzilla friends or foes do you hope makes a surprise appearance in the film? Let us know in the comments!
